It is no wonder that this is the peak harvesting season, and farmers are so busy that they want to help the cat. After the onions are harvested, rice planting awaits in no time. In the 1960s, elementary and junior high schools had shortened agricultural classes (leaving school by noon)...children went straight to the rice paddies when they got home.
