Exciting and Thrilling: “Roadside Station Uzushio”

"Roadside Station Uzushio" was featured in the July issue of Monthly Pocket Awaji!

"Roadside Station Uzushio" is located directly beneath the Great Naruto Bridge and is the roadside station closest to the whirlpools of the Naruto Strait. It opened in 1998 and reopened after renovations in October 2025. In addition to the familiar Awaji Island souvenirs, it offers a wide selection of souvenirs unique to this location.
"Shop Uzunokuni" stocks 1,000 different products throughout the year, 120 of which are original items available only here. The support team, who are easily swayed by the phrase “you can only find this here,” were drawn by displays that sparked the joy of discovery and playful taglines, and they circled the store like a “whirlpool” in search of popular souvenirs.
KOKODAKE (Exclusive to This Location) products include the “Uzu-shio Cape Naruto Kintoki Daifuku” (with a chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that’s addictive), as well as “Whole Awaji Island Onion Curry” and “Japanese-Style Onion Dressing,” are packed tightly on the shelves. The local specialty market features delicacies like simmered wakame stems, dried baby sardines, and simmered baby squid—truly representative of Awaji Island!! In addition to sweets and seafood, there’s a wide selection of items like “Uzunokuni Limited-Edition Original Chopsticks” and “Awaji-yaki Tile-Shaped Coasters.” “Roadside Station Uzushio” is packed with souvenirs from Awaji Island—as well as unique treats to treat yourself to. In addition to shopping for island souvenirs, you can enjoy breathtaking views and delicious cuisine all in one place.
The “Uzunooka Great Naruto Bridge Memorial Hall,” famous for its “O-Tamanegi®,” also offers a wide variety of souvenirs from Awaji Island.
