Tetsushi Hamada of Hamada Farm, known as "Tecchan," a farmer in season who has been featured in media such as The Tetsuwan DASH and NHK, has grown the rare "Tecchan's Awajishima White Onions (White Bear)" and they are now available again this year at "Shop Uzunokuni," Roadside Station Uzushio.
[White Bear].
The name "White Bear" refers to the white Awaji Island onion, which is pure white both on the outside and inside.
In addition to being thick and juicy, onions have a sweet taste with little of the pungency characteristic of onions.
The recommended way to eat it is definitely to eat it raw.
As with new onions, slice thinly and allow to air dry before serving.
White Bear is also a variety that keeps better than new onions, lasting about two to three weeks.
Please try Tecchan's Awaji Island White Onions (White Bear), which are rare on Awaji Island!
